The Neighborhood Spot
A relaxed place to eat and drink after eighteen holes
Back Nine Bistro & Bar sits on the ground floor of the Residence Inn St. George, just off Interstate 15 at exit 10, backing onto the 11th and 12th holes of Green Spring Golf Course. It was built for the people who actually pass through this corner of Washington County: golfers coming off the course, families back from Zion or Snow Canyon, contractors and travel nurses on long stays, and neighbors from Coral Canyon and Green Spring who just want a drink and something hot without driving into St. George.
The kitchen is intentionally small. We cook a focused menu well rather than a long one poorly — flatbreads, burgers, wings, salads and a handful of shareables, all made to order. The bar carries Utah craft beer, wine by the glass, and full-strength cocktails.
Full bar
Utah craft and domestic beer on tap and in bottles, red and white wine by the glass, and classic cocktails poured to Utah spec. Zero-proof options too.
Made-to-order kitchen
Flatbreads, burgers, wings and salads fired fresh each evening. Vegetarian options on every section of the menu.
Steps from the first tee
The 11th and 12th holes at Green Spring back right onto us. Sky Mountain and Sand Hollow are a short drive. Come as you are — spikes and all.
Free parking, no hassle
A free surface lot right outside the door — no garage, no validation, no meters. Accessible spaces are closest to the main entrance.

Where exactly is Back Nine Bistro & Bar?

What are Back Nine Bistro & Bar's hours?
Back Nine Bistro & Bar opens at 5:00 PM every day. We close at 10:00 PM Sunday through Thursday and stay open until 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. The kitchen takes its last order 30 minutes before close — 9:30 PM most nights, 10:30 PM on Friday and Saturday. We are closed during the day — evening service only. Holiday hours may differ, so call (435) 900-1250 if you're planning around a holiday.
Does Back Nine Bistro & Bar serve alcohol?
Yes — a full bar with rotating Utah craft beer on tap, bottled and canned beer, wine by the glass, and cocktails. Valid photo ID is required; you must be 21 or older to be served.
Where you sit changes the rules. Under Utah law, if you are seated in the dining room, alcohol must be ordered alongside food. At the bar itself there is no food requirement — you are welcome to come in just for a drink. So if you only want a beer or a cocktail, take a seat at the bar.
Non-alcoholic beer, mocktails and soft drinks are available with no restrictions.
Is there outdoor seating at Back Nine Bistro & Bar?
Yes. There is a large patio off the dining room with lounge seating, shaded tables and gas fire pits, looking out over the golf course toward the red rock. The fire pits are lit most evenings, and the patio stays comfortable well into the cooler months — it is one of the better places in Washington to sit outside after sunset. Patio seating is first come, first served, and leashed dogs are welcome out there.
Is parking free?
Yes — there is a free surface parking lot directly outside the entrance, with no garage, no meters and no validation needed. Accessible parking spaces are located nearest the main doors. Larger vehicles and trucks with trailers can generally be accommodated in the outer rows.
Is Back Nine Bistro & Bar family friendly? Can kids come in?
Yes. Children are welcome in the dining area at any time when accompanied by an adult, and there is a kids menu — the Lil’ Birdie cheese quesadilla, Par-Saratops dinosaur nuggets, and the Tee Time Toastie grilled cheese, all $8 and served with fries or chips. Mocktails are $5–$7. Seating directly at the bar itself is limited to guests 21 and over, as required by Utah law.
Do you take reservations, or is it walk-in only?
Back Nine Bistro & Bar is walk-in seating — no reservation needed. For groups of eight or more, or for a private buyout, call (435) 900-1250 in advance and we'll do our best to hold space for you.
How much does it cost to eat at Back Nine Bistro & Bar?
It is inexpensive for a sit-down restaurant with a full bar. Starters, sandwiches, flatbreads and salads run $10–$14, desserts are $9, and every item on the kids menu is $8. Nothing on the food menu is over $14.
At the bar, draft beer is $7–$9 for 16 oz and $11–$13 for 24 oz, bottles and cans are $5–$13, wine by the glass is $10–$12, cocktails are $13–$16 and mocktails are $5–$7. Two people can eat and have a drink each for around $50 before tax and tip. Prices are current as of August 2026.
Are there vegetarian or gluten-free options?
Yes, there are vegetarian options in every section. On the food menu: the Par-Tee Hummus with warm pita and vegetables, Chips & Salsa, The Wedge Quesadilla, and the Three Peaks Cheese flatbread. On the kids menu: the Lil’ Birdie Quesadilla and the Tee Time Toastie grilled cheese. All four desserts are vegetarian, and the Assorted Fruit Plate is vegan.
Food prepared in our kitchen may contain milk, eggs, wheat, soybean, peanuts and tree nuts. Some dishes can be modified — ask your server, and tell them about any allergy before you order. Our kitchen is small and shared, so we cannot guarantee a fully allergen-free preparation.
How close is Back Nine Bistro & Bar to Green Spring Golf Course?
We back directly onto the course — the 11th and 12th holes of Green Spring Golf Course run along the property. The Green Spring clubhouse itself is about half a mile north, roughly a two-minute drive. Sky Mountain Golf Course, Coral Canyon Golf Course and Sand Hollow Resort are each within about a 10 to 20 minute drive. Golf attire is always fine.
What's nearby — how far are Zion and downtown St. George?
Downtown St. George and Utah Tech University are both about 8 minutes away, and Snow Canyon State Park is roughly 20 minutes. Zion National Park's south entrance at Springdale is around 45 minutes northeast on Highway 9. St. George Regional Airport is about 20 minutes south.
Do you offer takeout or delivery?
Takeout is available for the full menu — call (435) 900-1250 to order ahead and pick up at the bar. We do not currently offer our own delivery service.
Is there a TV to watch the game?
Yes. The bar has televisions and we'll happily put on a game if you ask. It's a relaxed room — expect conversation volume rather than a sports-bar roar.
